Dhoni's full name is Mahendra Singh Dhoni He was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. His father's name is Pan Singh Dhoni and mother's name is Devaki. Dhoni did his schooling from DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir. As a child, Dhoni loved badminton and football, playing football at the district and club level at a young age. He was the goal keeper of his team.
Then one day, due to no wicket-keeper in their school cricket team, Dhoni was asked to play cricket, so he went to play and start playing as a keeper batsman in the commando cricket club.
His consistently good performance earned him the opportunity to play the Veenu Mankad Trophy in 1997–1998. In 2001, Dhoni joined the Indian railways as a ticket collector and during that time he was also playing cricket at ranji trophy.
In 2003, he was selected in the India A team. Performing well in that series, Dhoni made his debut against Bangladesh on 23 December 2004 but unfortunately he was run out for 0 in that match and then he was selected for the Pakistan Tour.
In the fifth match of his career, Dhoni scored 148 runs against Pakistan. That innings gave him boost and after that he didn't look back and made a strong place in Indian team
2007, T-20 World Cup named under Dhoni's Captaincy
Dhoni made his Captaincy dabut in 2007. Dhoni played his first match as captain against Scotland but the match was canceled due to rain. Under Dhoni's captaincy, India won the T20 World Cup for the first time. India's final match was against Pakistan, Gautam Gambhir scored an innings of 75 runs, with the help of this innings, the team scored a score of 157 runs. In the final over of the match Pakistan required 13 runs, then Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni handed the ball to Joginder Sharma. Joginder dismissed Misbah-ul-Haq with his third ball and India won the T20 World Cup by 5 runs.
India won the World Cup after 28 years in Dhoni's Captaincy
The 2011 World Cup was played in India, India performed well in the entire tournament, India made it to the finals after beating Pakistan in the semi-finals. The final was played against Sri Lanka at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 2 April. Sri Lanka batting first put the target of 274 in front of India, in response Sri Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga took both the wickets of Indian openers. Then Gambhir and Kohli's partnership brought India back into the match again, but Virat Kohli was dismissed after scoring just 35 runs. Then Dhoni himself came up and took responsibility on his shoulders. Dhoni made a good partnership with Gambhir but lost his wicket for 97 runs just 3 runs before his century. It was a big wicket but still Dhoni did not give up and with Yuvraj turned the game towards India. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 91 runs in 79 balls and hit a huge six and made India the winner of the World Cup 2011.

The whole Nation became a fan of Dhoni that day and after 28 years, India won the World Cup. Due to his historical performance, Dhoni was awarded with Man of the Match award in this match.
Again under Dhoni's captaincy, India Won the Mini World Cup
In 2013 Champions Trophy was played in England, in which India performed very well in the entire tournament and enter into the finals. The final match was played against England in Birmingham. Due to rain, the match was reduced to 20 overs, India batted first and scored 129 runs in 20 overs, in response, the Indian bowlers allowed England to score only 125 runs and won this final match by 5 runs. Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets and he was awarded with the Player of the Match award. India won the Champions Trophy final due to Mahendra Singh Dhoni's excellent captaincy and very good bowling performance by Indian bowlers.
End of an Era
Dhoni is the only captain to have all the ICC trophy in his name. Finally, on 15 August 2020, Mahendra Singh Dhoni said goodbye to international cricket. The world will never forget Dhoni's style.
